Founder of The Speech Circle
Hello, I’m Liz, founder of The Speech Circle. I am a fully qualified Specialist Speech and Language Therapist and a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy from City University, London.
I have worked in a highly specialist Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) School for children with Autism (4-19 years) in London for three years, working collaboratively with Behaviour Analysts, school teachers and other health care professionals. I have provided small group and whole school training. I have presented at the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Clinical Excellence Network in London.
I have a keen interest in developing Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) systems for individuals, ranging from using switches, communication boards/books and using iPad apps to expand communication skills.
Since moving to Liverpool, I have worked in the NHS trust delivering therapy in both the community and schools. I have worked in clinics, childrens centres and client’s homes to support children and their families. I have co-led both child and parent groups for children with complex needs and global developmental delay and worked on the diagnostic panel for the Neurodevelopmental Autism Pathway. I have had post-graduate training in Social, Communication, Emotional Regulation and Transactional Support (SCERTS), Attention Autism, PECS, Makaton and Selective Mutism as well as being a fully certified Elklan trainer.
Alongside working as a speech and language therapist I am also a qualified Reiki Practitioner and a keen marathon runner.
